Are you ready for what's to come?
We said at the start of this year that 2010, 2011 and 2012 would be very powerful times of change indeed. We felt we would see, ever more strongly, the consequences of mankind's non-alignment to the natural universal flow. From the earthquake in Haiti to the Icelandic Volcano grounding flights across Europe, the Gulf Oil Spill and the worsening global economic climate, these are profound times indeed. And as I watch the appalling scenes of devastation in Pakistan with over 20 million rendered homeless by the deluge of historic monsoon rains, I find myself asking deep in my heart "And what is the way through it all?" Just as soon as the question is asked, Benevolence provides the answer: "The Days of the Spiritual Warrior have begun"...

Honouring the pain of our Mother
The Gulf oil spill continues unabated, despite the increasing ingenious and yet incomplete attempts of science and business to stop it. How does it make you feel that hour by hour thousands of gallons of thick black crude are pouring into our environment? To me it's simply heart rending. Yes I would love for us to be able to cap this spillage today, but it continues to confound the efforts of the most rich and powerful. Perhaps then, the hand of a much greater power is at work behind all this? Maybe we're meant to feel the pain? Perhaps it's another of those powerfully potent messages from Gaia. Because make no mistake, we ARE being spoken to: It's finally time to awaken. To realign with the natural order of life. To embrace our mother as she embraces us...

People of the world rising up
Those who frequently tune into the Openhand site may remember that our NewYear message predicted the next three years would bring monumental change for mankind. Although our future is not by any means set in stone, you can certainly see gaping cracks now appearing in society's 'pillars of wisdom'. And Gaia has begun to 'shout from the rooftops' about what's really going on. The synchronicities are stacking up all around us. From the earthquake in Haiti to the Volcano in Iceland; from the collapsing economy of Greece to the mega BP oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico. To the casual observer, they may appear as non-connected, random 'acts of God', but there is a story linking them all...

Back to the future
So for several days all aircraft have been grounded across the UK and much of Europe because of what? Well insurance company small print has got it in one...an act of 'God'. Or put more accurately, an act of Gaia. A volcano in Iceland grounds all air traffic across Europe costing business billions. It all feels kind of surreal doesn't it? Kind of biblical even. It's almost as if by one freak act of nature, humanity has been momentarily shunted all the way back to the stone age; the times where we walked everywhere and flew in our hearts instead. The clock is well and truly ticking. And where is it taking us? Back to the future of course...

Receiving in one hand, giving with the other
World economies are steaming into times of revolutionary change. People everywhere are realising that the old world order that has sustained us is breaking down. The paper in our pockets is worth increasingly less. It's already losing its value against essentials like food and energy. As governments everywhere hyper-inflate, that trend is likely to accelerate. So how are we to survive and prosper from the changes? Should we save our money? Should we build up our bank balances? Here at Openhand, we're advocating using those resources we have to prepare ourselves for the shift just over the horizon. In any case, receiving with one hand and giving with the other is entirely inline with the higher energetic order of things. We were never meant to scrimp, save and hoard..

it is Industrial Agriculture
If like me you've been watching the heart rending images of the earthquake victims in Haiti, you might be wondering why life suddenly seems to have come to a grinding halt there? Yes there's been devastation, but why are the Islanders unable to quickly respond to it? It's all about society's lack of resilience. Over the last 200 years, Haiti has been swallowed into the Developed Nations food and energy machine, so if disaster strikes, there's little to do, but sit around and wait for help. To me, global inter-dependency based on Industrial Agriculture is the greatest human disaster of our time. We would all do well to heed the synchronistic warnings...

Yes we can!
Was it really only a year ago that Obama swept to power on a wave of "Yes we can euphoria"? Gosh, the clock is really ticking! And just twelve months later, a mere blink of the eye, his poll ratings in America have dropped to 50% and are still falling. So much so, that a strong Democrat seat held for many years by Teddy Kennedy, has now swung back to the Republicans. People are already beginning to speak of a 'lame-duck' President, that he might now struggle to push through much needed policies. So what went wrong? Why did the gloss so quickly peel away? In my view, it is all down to highly misplaced expectation and forgetting that the only real way to change our world, is not by fumbling with external effects, but the internal causes. The only sure way of changing our world is from the inside out...

The world needs something much more powerful than hope
So world leaders have come and gone at the world climate change summit in Copenhangen, dubbed by some "Hopenhagen". And what will history record happened? Well, a toothless, watered down deal was brokered that does nothing. After Arnie promised to save the world, Clinton promised bundles of cash (from who knows where) and world leaders traded insults between the negotiations, what are we left with? Well for me, I'm actually positively encouraged by it. Sound strange? For me, the worst possible outcome would be some kind of luke warm deal that promised a mediocre cut in emissions which meant everyone would keep on consuming happily ever after and feel good about themselves in the process. A mirror is very clearly being shown for all to see. What is it saying?...

Time accelerating to a stand still
When I awoke I had a truly profound experience. Early one morning on a hotel roof top in Las Vegas (of all places!), I was watching the sun come up over the distant horizon, the darkened purple becoming first indigo then orange as it rose majestically to fill the sky. I found myself unfolding. The inner and outer worlds melted blissfully into one. In the blink of an eye, the sun filled the heavens. Time for me had accelerated and simultaneously ground to a halt. Are you having similar experiences? Do you find the days seemingly getting shorter? Do you have less and less time? Yet sometimes, does the moment seem to stretch to eternity?
