Vimal, its really very interesting to read about your exploration and I love your directness and Ray 1 vibe that just 'goes for it'.
I think its very healthy to compare with the past in full awareness - as you are - and discernment. New pathways and habits are formed not because we have 'let go' of the past ones but because there has been a metamorphosis into the new ones.

That's indeed, as you imply, part of the natural explorative metamorphosis happening where one discovers how to listen to the wisdom of the body and make choices that serve more. For example, after having gone to a totally plants diet for a while, one day I had kiwi and because it is really acidic it upset my stomach a lot. I never had this before and even now if I eat kiwi the same thing happens. So I don't eat it. Our bodies are designed to be more alkaline than acidic, I think its an 80-20% ratio, so the body lets you know! So, for me, it's finding out what serves well in the continuous transition to a 'higher vibrational, more energetically open embodied existence'. The ginger extract fix sounds wonderful - love ginger and reminds me I should use it more! Thank you!
I comfort eat too and very much enjoy it :) Im happy to be in the emotional void, as you call it, with a healthy, raw bar of chocolate - yam! Intermittent fasting includes comfort eating :) And it works well.

The inquiry therefore is (and speaking from personal experience):
Am I fully aware of the processes inside and outside while comfort eating in the emotional void?? What is it I truly need and how do I create it/express it in alternative ways??
Is there judgement about the value of 'myself' because there is comfort eating? This needs to be diffused so that comfort eating does not become a destructive activity unnecessarily :)
How does comfort eating really serve in the moment? Whats good about it? Liking the taste? - perfect :)
And yes very important because it affects all the above!! : choose quality foods to comfort eat with to also honor the moment! Dairy is a typical comfort eating component but does not serve on many levels. So, what are the alternatives?
