This immediately reminds me of the movie Exodus about Moses where Ramsses (Not known which pharoe it actually was in reality) is finally forced to release the slaves but then his ego can't let it go so gives chase, meeting his ultimate demise at the Red sea. In the movie, Ramsses surveys the destruction of his army strewn along the beach and with irony utters "Ramsses the GREAT." It seems apropos.
