I just saw Ken's Loach's profoundly moving film "I, Daniel, Blake" which the Guardian's film reviewer calls the battle cry for the dispossessed.

I relate very personally to this film. Through sudden job losses and an unexpected health crisis, my husband and I landed in the 'system' when our children were young, so I know how it feels to sit across from a bureaucrat, praying inside for mercy. Thankfully, my prayer was answered, unlike Daniel Blake's. Having walked a mile in their shoes, I became a much stronger advocate for clients when I subsequently worked in the social service sector. And I was able to serve with greater compassion and understanding.

Just watched the animated film "Moana" with my kids...if you haven't seen it - it is truly beautiful! It definitely has it's purely silly parts that were a good laugh, but the scene at the end "when the heart is restored" is so incredibly beautiful and touching. The general premise depicts an island village that has stopped exploring, that protects it's safety above all else...the heart of the island has been stolen so that man could create in his own way and the island is now dying. The ocean calls to the cheif's daughter to retrieve the man who stole it and together restore the heart of the land. I would post it here, but don't want to spoil it for others, but if you probably won't watch the whole movie, here is the link...

I saw Midnight Special at the cinema last night. It's about an 8 year old boy, who although he has human form, is from another world & has special powers. He doesn't feel that he belongs here on Planet Earth, & eventually connects with light beings of his own kind, from elsewhere in the universe. I went to see "Lady in a van" last night and it was deeper than I anticipated from the trailer. It had some funny moments, though it was also quite sad in parts, it spoke to me of what can happen when you deny aspects of your soul and how experiences can shut us down.

"Always" is one of my very favourite movies, made in the 1980's -- starring Richard Dreyfuss and Holly Hunter and directed by Steven Spielberg. It has adventure, sadness, and comedy, but mostly it's a profoundly moving love story that speaks to setting our loved ones free if we truly love them. Sniff, sniff... I almost said I was surprised The Matrix wasn't mentioned, which is probably the most spiritual movie I have seen without being that on the surface, but then I saw it did come up.
Most of my favourite movies have been already mentioned, but what I haven't seen in the above list and I would highly recommend is Ink, a 2009 American independent movie, categorized as action/fantasy/sci-fi. I won't go into further details because I don't want to spoil it, let it be enough that it is a powerful story put onto film in a powerful way. (I find it especially impressive conidering it was written by, directed by and the soundtrack composed by the same guy)
(PS I deliberately didn't post link for the trailer because trailers almost always just ruin the movie experience)

Hello! I came across this post and can't help but write that I too LOVED the movie "Secret life of Walter Mitty". When I left the cinema I felt so uplifted in spirit. The band Rogue Valley has a beautiful song in "Walter Mitty" called "The wolves and the ravens". I listened to it over and over after the movie, and then discovered more songs from them.

I am really glad you liked the film Martin. It was indeed intended for the heart. I just knew at the first moment I saw the trailer that this film would carry a very important message for me. I was right, yet I was blown by the complex, multilayered nature of it. And its message, highlighted above, cannot be a 'coincidence' I think, it is so accurately elaborated, with too much analogies. Something similiar to Kubrick's classic, Space Odissey 2001 in this respect. Much more consumable art I admit but these are different times.
An other type of contemporary art that conveys spiritual message is of course pop music videos, something that Open provides great examples for here on the website. A classic one among others is Katy Perry's Firework, that was shot in my hometown Budapest. Katy Perry says it is about self-esteem. Well, without wanting to read too much into its lyrics, it may be about a bit more than that...:)

I've just watched Gladiator again. A really powerful film about the great challenge mankind have had between following the soul or the ego. So emotionally strong film that makes me fully understand what great forces that are fighting inside of humankind in order to finally align to the source.

Yes my attention has been drawn the significance of the film Mark - but I especially like your take on it.

Make no mistake, benevolence is speaking strongly to all people right now and in a multitude of ways. Film is one way of connecting deeply to the soul and planting a message. I'd say this is one of those powerful messages.

I would recommend The Secret Life of Walter Mitty...I think it has an extremely profound spiritual message. In my view, much deeper than it is generally understood (this film is widely considered as one about some 'midlife crisis'). Just think about it..W.M. is the 'little guy' a negative asset manager at LIFE Magazine. They are preparing the last issue of LIFE as it is going online afterwards: so that LIFE will never be the same again. A huge change is coming at LIFE. The old, tangible edition will cease to exist... There's also a downsizing at the company: not everyone can step through the gate of the new LIFE... Here comes Sean O'Connel, the mysterious photographer in the picture (a photographer, in my view, first and foremost is the master of lights and shadows). No one has ever seen him. He constantly travels around the world, hence being 'omnipresent'. He communicates with people only through signs hidden in his pictures. A perfect alter ego for God. He captures the "Quintessence" of Life, which eventually sends Walter Mitty (or, in my understanding, Mankind) back to the cover of LIFE. Before this, following a worldwide search, the two finally meet in the Himalayas (where else). Well, if this movie is not about the shift of human consciousness, then I really don't know what is..:) Anyway, the film is full of spiritual hints. Let alone the constant switches of 'dream' and 'awake' states of Walter Mitty during the film.

I'm very late in responding to this forum, but I just discovered Openhand a couple of weeks ago. Many of these films I knew and agree. This clip is, to me, the best visual of what ''faith'' actually is that I have ever seen....the 'leap of faith'' in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. And today, as a viewed it again, I believe that Openhand is represented by Harrison Ford throwing dust on the path so it will be visible to those following. That is what your mission seems like to me, and what it has meant to me. TO me, Ascension was/is a surrender into a leap of faith. Nobody really knew what lay ahead. We are learning as we go, and from those path-showers who go before us. And my eternal soul-mate of all time elected to remain in 3rd D, not wanting to take a chance on leaving career, parents,possessions the promise of a life everyone expects of him. So I'm on the path alone...not alone...but painful still 2 months after he left. His path is his own to choose and I am becoming more unconditionally peaceful about it. I'm so grateful for the 'dust on the bridge' from 3rd D densities to the unconditional LOVE-LIGHT of the higher frequencies. Thank you, Open and Trinity, and to all of you in community together with them.

It's a character that lives in her own bubble and is a victim of her own inertia. So it was a moment in which she has to come out of her own bubble and metaphorically shed her skin. This page seemed to disappear off the website for a couple of days after watching just half of it. I patiently waited to watch the rest, and interestingly the page came back when you posted the Noah link Open...so they appear linked both metaphorically and technologically!

Do you see the connection between the Earthships and the Noah metaphor? Can you feel the metaphor? It's a big one!

Another great movie I've just watched :)

I really loved this one. Apart from being light, funny and silly, it also carries a very important message (very relevant for me these days). The movie is a metaphor. You know, going back in time until... you don't need or want to anymore :)

Have any of you guys seen this? Best movie I have seen in a while. It touches on everything from reincarnational lives, karma, help from galactics, illuminati and TRUTH. Must see!

I find that I don't watch 'movies' like I used to anymore. It has become just like life, like any situation, another tool of self-realisation. I find that if I look through , then there is always some gift in almost any movie I watch.

And I agree, that recently movies have become more and more reflecting the 'real' world hiding behind the world visible to most people's eyes, and, funnily, they seem to look more and more surreal.

I believe that human mind can't come up with something that doesn't already exist on some level, it just picks on these things that we know somewhere deep inside and distorts them.

I found that most things that I have ever seen in movies, read about in books, all these things exist, they are just often misinterpreted, added some emotional cloud, and some physical form, that doesn't necessarily describes the energetic form well. But they exist in their 'real' form.

So now watching movies (especially those that seem most impossible and unreal) and reading books, including fantasy books, bring me much more than just some entertainment and fun. I enjoy them on a deep level, learn from them both about myself and the surrounding reality.

One of the movies I really enjoyed recently was Stardust, full of metaphors and messages, cute and heartwarming one. Thank you, Ben :)

I haven't watched Superman yet, but I surely will, as just today I was talking about my hardships with not fitting here and learning to accept that I am an 'alien' here hhh and realising that I can never be 'really' human. So I am really curious and looking forward to see it now :)

I'm surprised why no one has listed the latest Superman movie here yet. Trinity and myself watched it a few weeks back. If you drop through the obvious surface level hype, it's a thoroughly entertaining film with many deep metaphors.

For me the most powerful was that of not fitting in, not being accepted. This is a part I've not seen in previous Superman movies. It mirrors the struggle for acceptance in many star souls.

There's also the crumbled world he came from and the Opposing Consciousness that then pursued him, what their agenda here on Earth is.

I always find that if I read between the lines of today's popular movies, because consciousness is bubbling to the surface, there are rich seams of metaphor that we can each benefit from.
